Contrary to server opinion, I am indeed very much alive. News of my deactivation was met with a prompt denial! More later, lots of irons in the fire, and must keep the fire going.
OK, why wait, here's a few irons (golf there's a good game, but have been cycling for my outdoors activity).
What's Going on besides Chess
Let's add a photo! Or 2,3... Vassal is a very cool server, with many GMT games on hand. Being old school, I do buy the game and set it up, but the computer does make things simple, especially when you just have a very small desk to work from.
Trimmed, this game below, fits neatly on a large tournament sized chessboard. At the moment, the mounted mapboard from Here I Stand is atop the chess board, and then on top of that Reds! Virgin Queen is another game in the frig, hope to take it out and cook soon. Other games have included Burning Blue and Great War in Europe, though I've never had that much interest in the latter, and the 100 year thing hasn't really taken me by storm.
Here's the scenario start from GMT's game of the Russian Civil War. I'd like to trim the map as I've done with others, there's a huge hole there in the desert that I don't think reds or whites will mess with much. Control of Moscow is like controlling the center of the chessboard... OK, if your king happens to be in Moscow. Not chess.
The big game to play is Here I Stand, a 6 person game about the Reformation and the time of Henry VIII. Lots of diplomacy and debate in this one, of of the most unique boardgames, like Diplomacy on lots of steroids and Omega-3.
